It Beats the Food Court
This morning was Julia's birthday, so her parents, sister and my mother came out to our apartment for a special breakfast. We made crepes with berries, veggie sausages, and vegan waffles for Sarah, plus some of my famous "Swedish gasoline" - coffee thick and strong enough to grow hairs on a bowling ball. I really don't like drip coffee these days - it's gotta be at least a dark roast, prepared in a press or my favorite little stove-top espresso maker. Rule of thumb: use the darkest, most wonderful smelling beans, and at least twice as much as your mother would have. Unfortunately getting everything together, hosting 5 people, and then cleaning up and getting to the airport for a business trip left me no room for photography. Instead, I finally got an opening for my lunch as I waited for my delayed flight; Starbucks and a "carrot cake" Cliff Bar at LAX; it's as classy as it gets, but like the man said, it's better than the food court.
